With Bodenwunder
the peat remains where it is.

Guide for the fermentation of biogenic residues to 100% peat-free substrate.

Bodenwunder substrate is produced from your biogenic residues. In this guide, we explain the individual production steps.

An approved space is basic requirement to ferment biogenic residues. In most cases, a rededication of existing silo areas is sufficient.

Important:

The resulting process water (approx. 2% of the liquid) must be collected, but can be reused in the subsequent production process.

Residual materials

Reststoffe.jpg

The biogenic residues should be approx. 10 - 20 mm in size for fermentation; coarser comminution is not advisable. The dry substance of the residual materials to be fermented should be between 35 and 40 %. Contaminated residual materials (e.g. antibiotics, pesticide residues, etc.) cannot be fermented. We recommend an analysis of your biogenic residual materials.

Examples of fermentable residues:
Manure, miscanthus, digestate from biogas plants, landscaping material, cattails …

Comminution and mixing

1. Add Bodenwunder Activator and Bodenwunder Soil Revitalizers over the residues for the fermentation process.

2. Mix homogenously the residues with Bodenwunder fermentation aids. This can be done via cone mixing with a wheel loader, manure spreader mixing, or via mobile or professional mixing equipment.

Laying out the fermentation windrow

The piling of the pile is usually done with a telescopic loader, the dimensions of the pile should correspond to the size of the film. After laying out the windrow, it should be straightened so that the silo film can fit tightly.
Important: Do not compact the windrow too much (no silo)!

You need:
Telescopic loader, silo foil, foil weights, water, 1 IBC container, water pump and hose.

After straightening, the windrow is once again hosed down with the Bodenwunder Soil Revitalizers, then covered with the silo film and sufficiently weighted down. The duration of the fermentation period is about 4 - 9 months depending on the weather conditions. During the fermentation process, the windrow heats up to 60 degrees. This sanitizes the entire biogenic raw materials. Take a sample before using the final product!
